Lucy and Katherine are 20 miles outside of Astoria. They got a late start on the day, doing mainly preparation for the roadwork and camping and checking out their bikes. Their friend Lisa, who was so kind as to pick them up at the airport in Portland and drive to Astoria, cooked dinner for them their first night on the road. They had cheese fondue.
