Day 9

They spent the night in Prineville(map). Prineville is famous for 2 things:

1. Having a fireman's memorial and smoke jumper base. Smoke jumpers are firemen specially trained to fight forest fires by parachuting into the forest fire and then trying to prevent it's spread.

2. Owning it's own railroad. The Prineville Railway is the only town owned railway in the country.

They spent the night in Mitchell.

Day 10

They started out from Mitchell and basically just rode all day. The weather wasn't particularly nice or inclement. Apparently, they are out in the middle of the sticks. They spent the night in Prairie City (map).

Day 11

The worst day yet. They rode the entire way against strong head winds. They did meet a fellow cross country rider. His name was John Shaw, he was from England, and he was a police officer. He had started sometime in March on the east coast and was riding west. They spent the night in Baker City (map)

Day 12

They rode all day to Halfway (map). This is pretty country, but not much novelty.

Day 13

They are finally in Idaho! The spent the night in Hell's Canyon, in a campground owned by Idaho Power and Light. It was a pretty nice campground, but pretty desolate.
